AUTOCAD DESIGNER

We are currently looking for an AutoCAD Designer who will play a critical role in designing and engineering the electric, gas, and telecommunication infrastructure that serves a variety of project sites. This role involves thorough communication with the project management and design teams and a growing understanding of utility constraints and requirements.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

·         Creating and updating joint trench drawing sets and conduit plans, including gas, electric, phone, cable, and fiber-optic systems.

·         Design dry utility systems in accordance with applicable PG&E and engineering standards.

·         Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, landscape designers, MEP engineers, and structural engineers to design proposed utilities.

·         Prepare drawings for utility companies, city submittals, and client-specific needs.

·         Work closely with Project Managers to understand design intent and meet client expectations.

·         Provide regular status updates to the project management team regarding task completion.

·         Respond to drawing and design-related inquiries from Project Managers.

·         Update drawings based on ongoing changes from internal and external teams.

·         Adhere to company AutoCAD standards and drawing quality guidelines.

·         Manage files using company file organization and maintenance standards.

·         Effectively work with various CAD base files and demonstrate precision with layer management.

·         Insert new base files into existing job files.

·         Follow company Quality Assurance (QA) procedures, including self-review of work.

·         Balanced workflow and met deadlines in collaboration with other departments.

·         Transmit working drawings in different formats across multiple platforms.

·         Attend internal and external meetings as needed or requested.

 

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD with strong drafting and design skills.
  • Understanding of joint trench design and conduit planning.
  • Familiarity with PG&E and other relevant engineering standards.
  • Strong collaboration skills to work with architects, engineers, and other design professionals.
  • Excellent file management skills, including CAD layer management and base file insertion.
  • Ability to follow QA procedures and review personal work for accuracy.
  • Effective time management skills to balance workflow and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats.
  • Problem-solving skills to address practical challenges and adapt to standardized solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
